Full and Mini Abdominoplasty

As we age, fluctuations in weight, childbirth, and disease can cause the abdominal region to retain pockets of fat and folds of loose, sagging skin. Abdominoplasty, also known as a “tummy tuck,” is a cosmetic procedure that removes surface fat from the abdominal region to produce a trimmer, healthier looking physique. To meet each patient’s cosmetic goals safely and effectively, Dr. Pedro Torminn offers both full and mini abdominoplasty. A full abdominoplasty involves the tightening of loose stomach muscles in addition to the removal of excess skin and fat. Dr. Torminn makes a thin incision along the bikini-line from hipbone to hipbone (please see photo) to access the tissue and muscles of the abdominal region. Through this incision, he is able to remove excess tissue and perform liposuction to produce a smoother, trimmer abdomen.

A full abdominoplasty is a major surgical procedure, and many patients do not require so drastic a procedure. For these patients, Dr. Torminn offers the mini abdominoplasty, often known as a “mini tummy tuck,” that can be used to make relatively minor cosmetic enhancements. The procedure is performed with techniques similar to the full abdominoplasty, but the incision that Dr. Torminn creates is smaller than the one placed in traditional abdominoplasty (please see photo). Through this incision, Dr. Torminn is able to remove excess fat and tighten the abdominal muscles to create a flatter, better contoured stomach surface.
