Liposuction

Liposuction removes unwanted fat from specific, targeted areas of the body. The procedure is one of the most common and effective ways of treating localized pockets of fat that are resistant to traditional dieting and exercise. During liposuction, Dr. Pedro Torminn uses an instrument called a cannula, a suction tube, to break down fatty tissue under the skin and suction it gently away from the body.

What distinguishes the procedure is that it can be used to target nearly every area in the body and can be combined with a number of cosmetic surgical procedures for more comprehensive results. Common locations for liposuction include the waistline, hips, buttocks, inner and outer thighs, upper arms, and the area under the chin and neck. Dr. Torminn can use one of several techniques to perform liposuction, depending on the area to be treated and the goals of the patient. These techniques include dry, wet, tumescent, super-wet, ultrasound-assisted, and power-assisted; Dr. Torminn will be glad to discuss each technique’s advantages and disadvantages with you during a consultation. During the procedure, fat may also be grafted to other areas of the body to achieve a more natural contour. Patients who are interested in liposuction are encouraged to contact Dr. Torminn directly.
